CHESS Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Starbucks!

Hi Everyone!

Just a short reminder that we meet this Wednesday, Nov. 29th, as we do every Wednesday and Sunday afternoon, from 3:00 p.m. on through closing time. Come and go anytime. All ages and skill levels are welcome. There are no dues and no purchase is required (but it would be nice). We're at our usual Starbucks venue, 1536 Kirker Pass Rd., in the Clayton Shopping Center. Be the first to solve a chess puzzle on the first try, win a free tall Starbucks drink!

This past Sunday's session saw at least a dozen players enjoy the afternoon and evening at fun, challenging chess over the boards: Samuel, Ben C., Yancy, Ethan, Sam, Mike T., Tony, Red, Kevin, Will, Morgan, and Mark! It was Ben C. who solved the puzzle on his first try, spotting the Queen sacrifice...!

CHESS this Sunday, November 26th at Starbucks!

Hi Everyone!

We meet again this Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to closing time at our usual Starbucks venue at 1536 Kirker Pass Rd., in the Clayton Shopping Center, just up from the Clayton Rd. and Ygnacio Valley Rd. intersection, as we do every Sunday and Wednesday afternoon - same time, same place!

Be the first to solve a given chess puzzle on the first try to win a free tall Starbucks drink of choice! Come and go anytime; all ages and skill levels are welcome; there are no dues; and there's no purchase required (but it would be nice).

Last Wednesday's session saw at least a dozen players enjoy an afternoon and early evening of fun, challenging chess over the boards. Feel free to join us, get your game up, and make new friends!

CHESS this Wednesday, November 22nd at Starbucks!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving Day this coming Thursday!

And this Wednesday, November 22nd, our chess club meets again at our regular Starbucks venue for the fun and challenge of the game of chess played over the boards! We meet every Sunday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. through to closing time, and last Sunday at least a dozen players came by to get their game up, including our newest player, Alex, welcomed by Kevin, Red, Lou, Yancy (who solved the day's chess puzzle), Reza, Sam, Alyssa, Ben C., Mike T., Diego, and Miles, who was there with his sister and Dad!

All ages and skill levels are welcome; there are no dues; there's no purchase required (but it would be nice); and, the first player to solve a certain chess puzzle on the first try wins a free tall Starbucks drink of choice!

So then, come on by before the holiday have some fun, and make new friends!

CHESS this Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Starbucks!

Hi Everyone...!

We meet every Sunday and Wednesday afternoon, and at least 10 players came by for chess over the boards this past Wednesday, with just about everyone still playing by closing time at our regular venue, Starbucks! Enjoying the afternoon and evening of chess were: Sam, Bert, Moses, Red (who solved the day's chess puzzle), Ben C., Tony, Mike T., John S., Morgan, and Alyssa!

Even more players are expected at our next session, this Sunday, November 19, 2023. As usual, all ages and skill levels are welcome, from beginners to masters and all in between! Come and go anytime from 3:00 p.m. on through closing time (8:00p.m.); there are no dues, and there's no purchase required (but it would be nice). There usually is a chess puzzle to solve, and the first one to solve it on the first try wins a free tall Starbucks drink of choice!

So then, come on by, enjoy the fun and challenge of the game, and make new friends!

CHESS this Wednesday, Nov. 15th at Starbucks!

Hi Everyone!

We had a great turnout this past Sunday! I was there with Kevin (who was on a win streak!), Yancy, Red, Max (who solved the chess puzzle for the prize), new Chris, and our newest player, a fellow by name of Edr! More players showed up after I left, including IMRonald along with with Paige and her kids JJ, Ian and Kayden!

We meet again this Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at our usual Starbucks venue, same time (3:00 p.m. through to closing), with all ages and skill levels welcome. Come and go anytime. There are no dues, and there's no purchase required (but it would be nice). There usually is a chess puzzle to solve, and the first one to solve it on the first try wins a free tall Starbucks drink of choice!

If you are interested in joining a Contra Costa Chess Club Team to play other Clubs in official USCF-rated Chess Team Tournaments, let me know. (Yancy, who brought up the idea, Red, Max, and others are up for it.) Chess clubs can field more than one team based on a range of ratings, with each team having 4 players and 1 alternate. We can set up for team contests to be scheduled in 2024 at different locations in the SF Bay Area, including our general location, as well as other venues in California and other states, or even countries!! Okay, I may be getting carried away at the moment, but you get the idea...

CHESS this Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Starbucks!

Hi Everyone!

Several players were at last Wednesday's session, and we welcomed yet another new player, Dan, to the Contra Costa Chess Club! There to welcome Dan to our fun and challenging games of chess over the boards were Ben C., Red, Lou, Mike T., Bert, and Will, among others. We meet again this Sunday, November 12, 2023 at our usual Starbucks venue, where several more players of all ages and skill levels, including kids, beginners, masters, etc. will come by to get in some good games!

There usually is a chess puzzle to solve, and the first player to solve it on the first try wins a free tall Starbucks drink of choice! So then, drop in. We start at 3:00 p.m. and go 'til closing time. Come and go anytime, there are no dues, and there's no purchase necessary (but it would be nice).

CHESS this Wednesday, Nov. 8th at Starbucks!

About 15 players came by to enjoy the company and the game of chess over the boards this past Sunday at our regular Starbucks venue! Sam solved the chess puzzle on just his second try, and there with him during the afternoon were Jordy, Red, Yancy, Will, Kevin, Mike T., Ben C., Chris Th., Mark, Lou, Evan H., and Miles along with his Dad and little sister!

We meet every Sunday and Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. through to closing time. There are no dues and no purchase requirement (but it would be nice). Come and go anytime - all ages and skill levels, including beginners, are most welcome!
