Hi Everyone . . . !
Last week's session saw a
pretty good turnout of players, both regular, occasional and brand new players
enjoy the grand old game of chess over the boards both inside and outside of
our favorite venue, Starbucks! There were several matches that highlighted the evening. Young Chris Y. battled Rich K. in a duel that ended in a draw, featuring a rook and a pawn vs. a knight and three pawns, with both kings in on the action! Tony T. and Chris B. were in a fine end-game match, and there were other contests with players Young (Chris Y's Dad), Anthony, Chris Th., Priya, Jonathan, John S., and two or three other new players whose name we didn't quite catch for this article . . .
. . . plus we met another player by name of Ed C. who enjoyed making new friends and joining in a multi-topic conversation (including the latest national political circus) under the Starbucks umbrellas outside with Mike T., Chris Th., Dennis, John S., and whomever else wanted to join in . . . this Wednesday's get- together may feature both the game of chess and the history-oriented game of Chronology!
We meet every Wednesday evening, and we're expanding our time available for chess over the boards, by half an hour, by now going from 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., at Starbucks, located at 1536 Kirker Pass Rd., Clayton, Calif., come by anytime, the earlier the better for the best tables, more matches, and some really interesting company!
See you soon,
-- Mike T.
